Booking budget hotels in India

If you are a student or someone low on pocket and wish to book a hotel for cheaper price, then this trick will help you.

Things you will need- Internet Connectivity for an hour & Telephone

It’s great to know that when you combine the power of internet and telephone, you can save at least 200 INR = 4$ per day (approx. 10%) of a budget hotel assuming that tariff is about 2,000 INR.

For getting such a bargain, first of all search with Google for hotels in the destination city.

Search a hotel in the destination city

When you see the results, the first few pages are filled with content from travel sites such as makemytrip.com, expedia.com, tripadvisor.com, etc.

These website are very useful in getting reviews of a particular hotel as you get to know it’s features and also see the standards of the rooms that you can book.

Now, once you have selected a hotel under your budget, choose the variety of room that you would like to be in as per budget.

After doing the above, you ought to use Google to find the hotel(s)’ actual telephone numbers or official website. Then, you should call them up and ask for room tariff.

When I visited the hotel’s web site, the price was less by about 15%.

My experience says that rates differ by at least 150-200 INR which is approximately 10% of the money and saving it makes sense.

Tell me one thing friends, if you could have something for 10% less then why not go for it?

Spending 5 Rupees on telephone is better than spending 200 Rupees extra on travel sites that charge much higher than the actual rates in case of budget hotels.

There is not much difference between a travel’s site and a travel agent. Both of them are the one and same thing and it’s always wiser to directly contact a budget hotel for a bargain rather than paying much more than what was required. Most of the budget- hotels have in house credit & debit card machines that let you pay the bills through your credit /debit card. Many hotels also allow you to do an advance bank transfer to their account in order to book a room.

Save money!

Adobe Fireworks is a software originally by the famous company Macromedia (now owned by Adobe), that revolutionized the way websites are designed. Still, Adobe Fireworks didn’t receive as much response as Adobe Photoshop.

In the above video, an experienced graphic designed shares with you views of his about how using ‘Fireworks’ is a better work than using ‘Photoshop’.

Please note that Fireworks is not an alternative tool to Photoshop but a quick integrable software that makes the process of improving graphics easy and steady.

Why Fireworks over Photoshop

I use Fireworks to design some web content that you may see on this website. The best part of using Fireworks is it’s speed, simplicity and integration.
If you are more of a programmer and less of a graphic designer such as me, this tool is recommended for hassle free graphic creation with high speed.
Say No to

worries with the complex filters & effects described in the various menus of Adobe Photoshop and rather switch to Fireworks’ simple User Interface that lets you control the whole of it without making it complex. It’s a true vector editing software and helps you in matching scale and lots other works. Also, it has simple interface to make ‘graphic editing’ easy.

The best part of Fireworks is ‘Pixel-Precise Control’.

It’s an awesome feature as you can exactly program at what co-ordinates do you need a particular shape along with it’s dimensions, that give you an edge of time above others.
Fireworks also boasts of ‘The Web Layer’ that comprises of image slicing, output file type selection and generation, in a procedural manner. In fact, for a majority of web designers, Fireworks simply stands for converting the photoshop document into respectable HTML content.
Although, users can do much more than slicing in Fireworks.

It’s recommended for prototyping web designs.

Another advantage of Fireworks is it gives you a menu under which you can select the nature of objects that you are designing. There’s a dedicated menu that lets you choose the sort of gradient that you would like to use and the texture that could suit the graphics.

Help And Support

Fireworks comes along with an education layer that is under ‘Fireworks Help and Support’ to help you with the framework as a newcomer.

Vector Tools -An Added Advantage

Various vector tools are provided under this software that makes it easy to do a variety of tasks that could be really difficult with photoshop.

Wide Range of Common Library (Awesome collection of Buttons, Form Boxes, Input Boxes, Selection boxes, Scroll, etc)

The best advantage that I personally saw with Fireworks is it’s wide range of ‘Common Library’ that offers several button designs, icons, input types, etc that makes designing a portal really very easy.
Also, you can edit the ‘button’ text under Symbol properties.
You can also create Styles to improve the way your shapes look (such as it’s glow, boundary, bevel and other effects for which you used ‘Blending Options’ in photoshop).

Using Symbol properties you can perform a variety of tasks with the various options that Common Library provides you with. Do try and let us know.

Making Pages, Symbols, Styles is easier

Furthermore, you can make several pages with similar or different designs and store them under the same framework.
A single Fireworks document can hold several number of pages, each of which contains it’s own collection of layers and styles. Layers and their styles can be easily copied into other pages. It’s a task that takes just few seconds.
Making Symbols is another advantage with Fireworks. You can have your own collection of common graphics that you generally use on a web site such as logo for copy right or say buttons, logos, benchmark, brand endorsement graphics, etc.

Styles allow you to make universal changes across pages in a document. It’s like the Cascade Style Sheet for Fireworks.

Make changes to a single style and all elements associated with it will show that particular change. A better example of Object Oriented Programming that you may have learned in High School.
You have choice of plenty of colors to fill your common library’s graphics with. Try on and on!!
The major factor that plays in sales of a software is it’s price. It’s far cheaper than Photoshop costing nearly one third of the price of Adobe Photoshop.

Final Result of Fireworks V/S Photoshop
Fireworks does not suffice as an alternative to Photoshop but there are many tasks that can be easily and in more time precise environment performed with Fireworks rather than Photoshop. It’s better to use Fireworks for making web content than Photoshop as it’s quick, fast and easy. Perhaps, Fireworks saves a lot of time that you would have wasted in adjusting various variables that are accompanied while using filters, effects, etc.
It’s a way more efficient software.
Everyone does not need detailing in graphics and Fireworks is for those who just want graphics and nothing more. It’s not for artists of Photoshop who create extremely detailed designs but for Web Masters who simply want a graphic to quickly serve for a purpose.

Satyameva Jayate means Truth stands invincible. It is a Hindu mantra from the ancient scripture Mundaka Upanishad. Upon the independence of India, this was adopted as the national motto of India. And this is the very name with which, Aamir Khan begins a legendary show for the first time on Indian television that opens up the thread of various socio-economic issues prevailing in various parts of India. This show airs at 11 am on Sunday on Star Plus, a leading television channel in India.
This show began with the agenda of ending female foeticide. Female foeticide has been a major problem since 1970 when the government of India advocated policies that cause the problem of killing of female fetus.
A mixture of disbelief, horror, tears and smiles is what you can expect from this show.
I must admit that this show is well researched and definitely gonna be a grand success.
It’s telecasted on Star Plus and Doordarshan simultaneously for One and Half hour.
Female foeticide is practised by rural people or those loving in small towns.
Aamir brought into focus the dangers of female foeticide by showing a village in Khurukshetra in Haryana where marriagable men have not been able to find women to marry as there were no women in that age bracket left.
“In the last one year 15,000 women from Bihar, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh have been brought and sold here to families. This has led to human trafficking in Rajasthan,” he added.
Aamir also forcefully stated to the audience that the sex of the unborn child depended on the chromosome of the father.

“If we worship goddess Durga, why kill unborn girls,” he said.

Aamir also brought on the show two journalists who carried out a sting operation against doctors involved in sex determination in Rajasthan and how the case is still dragging in various courts in Rajasthan.

He kept people glued to the show and promised to tell them of a “magic wand” to get rid of the evil practice of female foeticide at the end of the show. Pointing at the audience, he said it is time to take a stand and all should get involved – and now.
The first episode of this grand show has received phenomenon response. Let’s hope for it’s success.

AIEEE is the premiere engineering entrance exam in India for a majority of colleges in the country and perhaps the next option after the mighty IIT – Joint Entrance Examination.

AIEEE is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education, a body of the government of India. The Indian government is very well known to be irregular with the basic amenities of the citizens and perhaps, that’s why many of the students have not yet received their AIEEE admit card as of April 23, 2012 (at a time when the exam is on 29th April-Offline, 7,12,19,26 May -Online).

Such an irregularity posses serious threat to young aspirants who want to make a solid career in the field of engineering.
But people should not take only the negative part.
A good decision by CBSE is that it has made the provisional admit card available through it’s web portal http://aieee.nic.in .
Eligible students can download it from the AIEEE web site by using the form for ‘Provisional Admit Card’ and filling it with their registration number and date of birth respectively.
You also need to solve a captcha in order to proceed.
While majority of the students opted for the traditional paper pencil method (which is the offline method) while about 196,000 students are appearing for the newly presented online format.
About 1.2 million students are expected to appear for the country’s prestigious examination.
You must not forget that from next year, AIEEE will be clubbed with JEE giving rise to a new name called ‘ISEET’ proposed by IIT Council & Ministry of Human Resource Development. The said updated version could include 40% weight-age to the Senior Secondary Board Examination, in a country where the standard of papers of CBSE, ICSE and state boards are very different.

The above statement ‘Making your Graph on PC’ sounds interesting for newbies or aspirants who have just took up the field of engineering or perhaps, say they are students of mathematics and wish to implement that using a computer system.

A highly experienced HOD of Mathematics at a very famous institution of my city claims that it’s easier to remember graph rather than equations and their solution.

Memory is the process of maintaining information over time.
It is the means by which we can draw on our past experience in order to use this information in the present.
Memory is a term given to the structures and processes that are involved in storage and subsequent usage of information at a later stage.
A great memory is definitely a must for every aspirant. But, there could be various natural tricks that could make you things understand rather than just mugging up concepts.
Without memory, you could not learn anything. So the outcome is that, if you could remember a single word, you have a memory in working condition.
Lets take an example.
Do you remember the physics equations that you learnt a few years ago?
Or Do you remember the movie that you saw a few years ago?
I guess most of you would say, it’s easier to remember the story of a movie than remembering some critical formulas.
It’s a definite point that visuals that is what appears in front of your eyes, is easier to remember rather than text in a book. Your memory can hold peculiar and interesting things easily for longer time.
A major drawback of the education system in India is that it’s all about mugging up formulas and not the practical application.
If students were actually performing the said theories in text books, there wouldn’t be a need to memorize a lot of theory portion. If you only memorize the content of a text, it doesn’t make you remember for long but if you understand it’s meaning, it does.
Make things interesting and you’ll remember them all.
Coming back to my main point.
For people who are students of Mathematics, a graph plays the key role in solving difficult questions in nearly no time as compared to solving them by the traditional arithmetic way. Remembering the visuals of a graph of an equation is easier than remembering the solution of an equation. So the software that we review under this post aims at explaining the said point.

Graph is a unique open source software that allows you to construct graphs of all sorts using equations and different color choices for several equations to be plotted in the same graph.

Features of the updated Graph Software:-

     Labels can now be rotated freely.
Graph can now calculate the area under a parametric function.
Zoom|Square will now keep the y-axis scaled equal to the x-axis until explicitly disabled.
Check boxes added to the function list to indicate visibility.

Time has changed and now you won’t be surprised to know that the very famous Swiss Bank officially known as UBS (earlier abbreviated as Union Bank of Switzerland) will become a house hold name like ICICI Bank or HDFC Bank in India.That’s what I analyzed from their recent actions in India. Swiss Bank has ONLY one branch in India which is in Mumbai, located at(Scheduled Commercial Bank),3/F, 2 North Avenue, Maker Maxity, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Bandra (East), Mumbai 400 051 India.

The above information has been taken from the official website of UBS.

It’s all a myth that you need millions of dollars to open an account with the UBS better known as Swiss Bank. The matter of fact is that, you could even open a NO-FRILLS account (which is the account with ZERO balance facility) with them.

The best part is that, they will pay you an interest of about 4% as fixed by the Reserve Bank of India, which is the designated government body to instruct the banking system existing in India for all of it’s aspects.

You must have heard the name of Swiss Bank in statements where it was said that most of the black money in Swiss Bank has originated from India. But mind the fact that using the Swiss Bank in India is not illegal. The bank has the right to perform any sort of recordings or create evidences in case the government of India thinks you are cheating with the tax authorities.

Hiding black money in the Indian branch of Swiss Bank is impossible as it’s all under the control of Indian government.

I must tell you that the economy of Switzerland is fully based on the banking system and there evasion of tax is not a crime. There, the government authorities think that a person could forget to quote an income in a financial year and could get it filed in the following years. Whereas in India, hiding taxes is a big crime.And you could be jailed if you do so.

The Indian edition of Swiss Bank (i.e. UBS AG Mumbai branch) offers to its clients products across Financial Markets, Institutional Banking, Corporate Banking and Individual Banking.

The Corporate & Institutional business comprises Fixed Income, Currencies, Commodities (FICC) products and services as well as lending to the corporate sector. This segment for the UBS AG Mumbai Branch has been active since June 2009. The Trading and Sales team at UBS India is equipped with inherent domain expertise and strong relationship management skills – a hallmark of UBS’ proven track record and success across the globe. In addition to providing client solutions, the team accomplishes market making for clients across all local currency fixed income and currency products. Supporting the FICC front office, is an equally capable group of functions like Operations, Risk Management & Monitoring , Legal & Compliance, Finance etc.

As part of its solutions, UBS caters to the risk management and capital raising needs of its client base – that includes large blue chip and mid-cap Indian Corporates, MNC clients from the global UBS franchise as well as large institutional names. UBS AG Mumbai Branch has competitive pricing and deal-making capabilities and is focused on being a “ solution oriented ” house. UBS commenced commercial banking in mid-2010 and currently offers leading Indian corporates as well as MNCs a range of products and services including INR lending, credit in foreign currency, offshore external commercial borrowings to complement offerings on the Fixed Income and Currencies.

Kopi Luwak or civet coffee, is one of the most premium and expensive varieties of coffee. It is made from the beans of coffee berries whic have been eaten by the Asian Palm Civet and other related civets, then shorter peptides and more free amino acids. Passing through a civet’s intestin,e the beans are then defecated, keeping their shape.
This special variety of coffee is produced in the islands of Sumatra, Java, Bali and Sulawesi in the boundaries of Indonesia. It is also produced in Philippines and also in East Timur (where it is called kafe-laku). Weasel coffee is a loose English translation of its Vietnamese name cà phê Chồn, where popular and chemically improved versions are also produced.

versions are also produced. However, Vietnam has 2 farms with 300 wild civets in Dak Lak. The farmers collect the coffee seeds and produce only 300 kg of authentic vietnamese chon coffee. The civets live in the wild and are fed beef. The processed civet beans are imported to the UK to the farmers’ sole UK supplier.

The origin of Coffee Civet or Luwak Coffee is closely connected with history of coffee production in Indonesia.

Kopi luwak is a name that refers to many specific cultivars and belnds of arabica, robusta, liberica, excelsa or other beans eaten by civets, hence the taste can vary greatly. Nonetheless, kopi luwak coffees have a shared aroma profile and flavor characteristics, along with their lack of bitterness.
Kopi luwak has a thick texture, and tastes vary depending on roasting levels. Usually, levels range from cinnamon color to medium, with little or no carmelization of sugars within the beans as happens with heavy roasting. Moreover, kopi luwaks which have very smooth profiles are most often given a lighter roast, though at first taste it can seem a bit strong in flavor. Iced kopi luwak brews may bring out some flavors not found in other coffees. Other berries eaten by civets can give kopi luwak a pungent, sometimes bitter taste, though it varies depending on the diet of the civet.
Sumatra is the world’s largest regional producer of kopi luwak. Sumatran civet coffee beans are mostly an early arabica variety cultivated in the Indonesian archipelago since the seventeenth century. The major Sumatran kopi luwak production area is in Lampung, Bengkulu and Aceh especially the Gayo region, Takengon. Tagalog cafe alamid (or alamid cafe) comes from civets fed on a mixture of coffee beans and is sold in the Batangas region along with gift shops near airports in the Philippines.

PRODUCTION
Kopi is the Indonesian word for coffee. Luwak is a local name of the Asian Palm Civet in Sumatra. Palm civets are primarily frugivorous, feeding on berries and pulpy fruits such as figs and palms. Civets also eat small vertebrates, insects, ripe fruits and seeds.
Coffee cherries are eaten by a civet for their fruit pulp. After spending about a day and a half in the civet’s digestive tract the beans are then defecated in clumps, having kept their shape and still covered with some of the fleshy berry’s inner layers. They are gathered, thoroughly washed, sun dried and given only a light roast so as to keep the many intertwined flavors and lack of bitterness yielded inside the civet.
Research by food scientist Massimo Marcone at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada showed that the civet’s endogenous digestive secretions seep into the beans. These secretions carry proteolytic enzymes which break down the beans’ proteins, yielding shorter peptides and more free amino acids. Since the flavor of coffee owes much to its proteins, there is a hypothesis that this shift in the numbers and kinds of proteins in beans after being swallowed by civets brings forth their unique flavor. The proteins are also involved in non-enzymatic Maillard browning reactions brought about later by roasting. Moreover, while inside a civet the beans begin to germinate by malting which also lowers their bitterness.
Kopi luwak is the most expensive coffee in the world, selling for between US$100 and $600 per pound.
The specialty Vietnamese weasel coffee, which is made by collecting coffee beans eaten by wild civets, is sold at $6600 per kilogram ($3000 per pound).
Most customers are in Asia – especially Japan, Taiwan and South Korea.
Sources vary widely as to annual worldwide production.

n November 2006 Herveys Range Heritage Tea Rooms, a small cafe in the hills outside Townsville in Queensland, Australia, put kopi luwak coffee on its menu at A$50.00 (US $35.00 PPP) a cup, selling about seven cups a week, which gained nationwide Australian and international press.
In April 2008 the brasserie at Peter Jones department store in London’s Sloane Square began selling a blend of kopi luwak and Blue Mountain called Caffe Raro for £50 (US $79.00) a cup.
Peck in downtown Milan sells a small espresso cup for 15 euros.

Is your dream Audi, BMW or Mercedes Benz? Perhaps, if you are in India, these cars rule as if they were warriors of the road. These impervious cars have a zeal to attract everyone since showrooms of leading car brands have opened up in many corners of India.

If you are from a European or American country, then brands such as Audi, BMW and Benz are normal but in India, these cars are pretty costlier than the other cars in their segment.And perhaps, they have a very different charm than a normal sedan or limousine.

The Indian car industry is already fully loaded with cars from the best brands that you could find in the world. In the past two decades, car brands such as Mercedes Benz, Audi And BMW have become a household name in India. On every alternate square of a tier two city, you will get at least one of each. And if you go for tier one city such as Mumbai, then after every square, you get plenty of them.

The first hand cars under such a segment will cost you anything between 20 Lakh Rupees (2 Million INR or 40,000$) to a few Crores (multiples of 10 Million INR or 2,50,000$). Through this post, you will actually realize the value of your charming dream car.

Audi is a German automobile manufacturer of supermini to crossover SUVs in various body styles and price ranges that are marketed under the Audi brand, positioned as the premium brand within the four wheeler giant Volkswagen Group.
The company is headquartered in “Bavaria”, Germany and has been a wholly owned (99.95% subsidiary of Volkswagen AG since 1966)following a phased purchase of its predecessor, Auto Union, from its former owner, Daimler-Benz, Volkswagen relaunched the Audi brand with the 1965 introduction of the Audi F103 series.
Volkswagen introduced the Audi brand to the United States for the 1970 model year.

Audi’s sales grew strongly in the 2000s, with deliveries to customers increasing from 653,000 in 2000 to 1,003,000 in 2008. The largest sales increases came from Eastern Europe (+19.3%), Africa (+17.2%) and the Middle East (+58.5%). China in particular has become a key market, representing 108,000 out of 705,000 cars delivered in the first three quarters of 2009. One factor for its popularity in China is that Audis have become the car of choice for purchase by the Chinese government for officials, and purchases by the government are responsible for 20% of its sales in China. As of late 2009, Audi’s operating profit of €1.17-billion ($1.85-billion) made it the biggest contributor to parent Volkswagen Group’s nine-month operating profit of €1.5-billion, while the other marques in Group such as Bentley and Seat had suffered considerable losses.

Audi has 7 manufacturing plants around the world: Ingolstadt, Germany since 1969, Neckarsulm, Germany since 1969, Bratislava, Slovakia since 2005, Györ, Hungary, Changchun, China since 1995, Brussels, Belgium since 2007, Aurangabad, India since 2006.
The technology that powers Audi is as follows:-

The cars produced by Audi are 100% galvanised to prevent corrosion and perhaps have not much to maintain with the color and metal part. The full-body zinc coating ensures effectiveness in prevention of rust. The body’s durability is highly boasted of as it does worth to do so. You will really wonder that , Audi has extended 10 year warranty against corrosion perforation to currently 12 years (except for Aluminium bodies which do not rust). Imagine, for a decade, you do not have to worry about the shell of your charming car.
Audi introduced a new series of supercars in 1990s and continues to use technology that has the best and high performance attributes. In 1994, Audi A8 was launched, which introduced the Audi Space Frame or ASF, that saves weight and improves torsion rigidity compared to a conventional steel frame.
After the Volkswagen-era models, Audi refused to adopt the traditional rear-wheel drive layout favored by it’s highly competitive mates Mercedes Benz and BMW, favoring either front-wheel drive or ALL-Wheel drive.
The majority of Audi’s lineup in the United States features all-wheel drive standard on most of its expensive vehicles (only the entry-level trims of the A4 and A6 are available with front-wheel drive), in contrast to Mercedes-Benz and BMW whose lineup treats all-wheel drive as an option. BMW only offered all-wheel drive on its V8-powered cars (as opposed to crossover SUVs) starting with the 2010 BMW 7 Series and 2011 BMW 5 Series, while the Audi A8 has had all-wheel drive available/standard since the 1990s. Regarding high-performance variants, Audi S and RS models have always had all-wheel drive, unlike their direct rivals from BMW M and Mercedes-AMG whose cars are rear-wheel drive only (although their performance crossover SUVs are all-wheel drive).

New models of the A3, A4, A6 and A8 have been introduced, with the ageing 1.8-litre engine now having been replaced by new Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) engines. Nearly every petroleum burning model in the range now incorporates this fuel-saving technology.
At the turn of the century, Volkswagen introduced the Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG), a type of dual clutch transmission. It is an automated semi-automatic transmission, drivable like a conventional automatic transmission. Based on the gearbox found in the Group B S1, the system includes dual electrohydraulically controlled clutches instead of a torque converter. This is implemented in some VW Golfs, Audi A3 and TT models where DSG is called S-tronic.
Beginning in 2006, Audi has implemented white LED technology as daytime running lights in their products. The distinctive shape of the DRLs has become a trademark of sorts. LEDs were first introduced on the Audi S6, and have since spread throughout the entire model range. The LEDs are present on some Audi billboards.
Since 2010, Audi has also offered the LED technology in low- and high-beam headlights.
Multi Media Interface
Audi has recently started offering a computerised control system for its cars, called Multi Media Interface (MMI). This came amid criticism of BMW’s iDrive control. It is essentially a rotating control knob and ‘segment’ buttons – designed to control all in-car entertainment devices (radio, CD changer, iPod, TV tuner), satellite navigation, heating and ventilation, and other car controls with a screen. MMI was widely reported to be a considerable improvement on BMW’s iDrive, although BMW has since made their iDrive more user-friendly.

MMI has been generally well-received, as it requires less menu-surfing with its segment buttons around a central knob, along with ‘main function’ direct access buttons – with shortcuts to the radio or phone functions. The screen, either colour or monochrome, is mounted on the upright dashboard, and on the A4 (new), A5, A6, A8, and Q7, the controls are mounted horizontally.

An “MMI-like” system is also available on the A3, TT, A4 (B7), and R8 models – when equipped with the Audi Navigation System Plus (RNS-E) satellite navigation system.

BMW vehicles follow a certain nomenclature; usually a 3 digit number is followed by 1 or 2 letters. The first number represents the series number. The next two numbers traditionally represent the engine displacement in cubic centimeters divided by 100.However, more recent cars use those two numbers as a performance index, as e.g. the 116i, 118i and 120i (all 2,0L gas-powered), just like the 325d and 330d (both 3,0L diesel) share the same motor block while adjusting engine power through setup and turbocharging. A similar nomenclature is used by BMW Motorrad for their motorcycles.
The system of letters can be used in combination, and is as follows:

A = automatic transmission
C = coupé, last used on the BMW E46 and the BMW E63 (dropped after 2005 model year)
c = cabriolet
d = diesel†
e = eta (efficient economy, from the Greek letter ‘η’)
g = compressed natural gas/CNG
h = hydrogen
i = fuel-injected
L = long wheelbase
s = sport, also means “2 dr” on E36 model††
sDrive = rear-wheel drive
T = touring (wagon/estate)
Ti = hatchback for the BMW 3 Series hatchback
x / xDrive = BMW xDrive all-wheel drive

The M version of the BMW 1 Series was named the BMW 1 Series M Coupe rather than the traditional style “M1″ due to the possible confusion with BMW’s former BMW M1 homologation sports car.

BMW India came into existence in the year 2006 as a sales subsidiary in Gurgaon (National Capital Region -NCR). A state-of-the-art assembly plant for BMW 3 and 5 Series started operation in early 2007 in Chennai. Construction of the plant started in January 2006 with an initial investment of more than one billion Indian Rupees. The plant started operation in the first quarter of 2007 and produces the different variants of BMW 3 Series and BMW 5 Series. In 2011, The Brand Trust Report, India study, ranked BMW as the most trusted brand in India.
