What I observed as a customer is that the very well known companies for sake of their interest make the mind of customer to showcase that shopping cart is like ‘GOLD-CHARM’ or something that is just worth buying and it is a great achievement for a site to possess such a feature. In such a case, when you lack funds, or you wish to go for a cheaper way, you must have encountered the term ‘Open Source’ which means free to use and modify code as per user’s requirement. Such Open Source Shopping Cart CMS come to rescue you from the burden to pay an amount like 2500$. There are several shopping carts available for free, some of them demand a small amount say 10$ or 24$ or at most 100$ for the commercial license or removing the tag-line ‘POWERED BY —-’ . This amount is small and if you want a redesign of it , you could hire up a freelancer web designer, who will design a theme for you at a very very cheaper rate. Furthermore, when your business has expanded to limits and you are in a mood to concentrate on the security power of your Cart, you can always take help from security advisors for a small fee. They will give you tonnes of tools, SDK packages etc which could be installed on your system and improve the security of your CMS. This is really the most important part of it. Let me tell you all a small thing, that 100% Security is not possible. It can never be done! Whoever claims that they provide you cent percent security is making a fool out of you. Be it a famous hacker or some cyber crime expert.
Open Cart is one of my favorite choice for using as a shopping cart, as it has various security packages and is easy to use for newbie . This shopping cart is quite complex in the way, it showcases , but it is as simple as anything, when you wish to modify it. The declaration of several variables, template, theming , common tpl files they really encourage a developer to use the shopping cart as a base for the CMS they provide to others. It is a good option to go for OpenSource Softwares as there is always scope of further development and modification of code.
