Virtualization

Has there been some instance with you, when you thought of having two operating systems operated at a single time? Many a times, especially with developers, it happens that, they want two OS to be operated simultaneously, so that there can be a fluency in working as per requirement. For rescuing you from this problem, virtualization comes into the picture.

There are numerous softwares available which provide you with the facility to install numerous operating system on virtual hard disk, which is an image in the software’s format. For this, you just need the installation disc of the OS to be installed & a good virtual machine software.

Some of the good virtual machine or virtual os softwares are :-

  1. Oracle VM Virtual Box
  2. VM WARE
  3. Windows Virtual PC
  4. .. The list goes on…

Using the above mentioned software, you can easily install any operating system (such as OpenSUSE, Fedora, Red Hat Linux, ….. Matriux ) while working on your existing environment.

The only DISADVANTAGE is that, your machine has to be resourceful. In case of virtualization, you will need to share your resources such as a portion of your RAM & some quality space on your hard disc (say 20 GB).  Because of these factors, virtualization may lead to memory swapping…

But it is hardly going to happen.. just ensure that your system possess a good configuration, then you can go for virtualization. This makes work easy.. and moreover you can test numerous operating systems on your PC. .. Once you are comfortable with the new environment, you can install it on the main hard disc.

This is the magic spectrum of software development.. You cannot expect what can be virtualized..

From a MAME Emulator to PS 2 EMULATOR.. Sounds funny !! but It really works..

If you could easily get a Play Station Emulator on your pc, then what’s the need of buying a P.S.???

A PC with good configuration will cost you nearly 30,000 to 50,000 INR… but if you just buy a PS, it could cost something more than 10,000 INR… Investment on a good machine is worth. Computers have such a huge area of being used..  I suggest the viewers of Techite.com to try hands on Matriux . It is a great Operating System designed by Mr. Manu Zacharia. Hats off to him ..! :-)
