It will be a privilege for me to attend this seminar which is to be organized by one of the best creations in the 21st century.
WikiPedia is the world’s source of free knowledge. In the beginning of the 21st century, when software tycoons like Microsoft targeted the enyclopedia niche, they made commercial softwares such as Encarta and were successful. But when you compare it’s success ratio with WikiPedia, there is a large difference. Wikipedia is a free of cost web site meant to enhance the knowledge of everyone round the globe. It is supported by a non-profit organization with over 19 million articles. Theoretically if you assume that one article contains at least 2000 words, the complete of Wikipedia would containt 38,000 Million of worthy words. Quite enormous but that’s the size of world’s largest free encyclopedia.
One of the major reason for it’s superb response was that, users could edit articles and improve the content if it needed improvement. Another fact you must know is that, Wikipedia serves content in 282 languages which in a way is connecting the whole globe.
Wikipedia has an extremely ‘High’ viewership of more than 365 million readers.
Now, instead of reading about what Wikipedia is, it’s time to register for it’s Wiki Conference.
Looking forward to meet each one of you at Mumbai on November 18-20,2011 at Wikipedia’s first conference in India.
